Karen and I were married April 7, 2006.

 

She was Karen Kane in high school, married to Bill Unger for 46 years, he passed away in 2003. We had not seen each other (even briefly) in 30 years, but she is still the girl I loved in high school and I love the woman she has become.

 

Besides re-uniting me with my kids, grandkids and sisters, the union brought me an extended family of her children, grandkids and great-grandkids.

 

Karen's QC children Pam (Anderson) and Bill Unger have accepted me into their family...along with Angie, Mike, Lindsay and Steven,  her grand children. We have Xavier, Ashton, Brody and Kamren her GG children, who will know only me as their GGFather. (Bill Unger died before having a chance to know them)

 

We bought a home in Coal Valley near my sister and near where Karen has lived for the past 46 years. We get to drop in to my sister Mary's house often. Kathy has once again become an integral part of our life.

 

I am now working as a physician in the ER at Genesis (they have two ERs, East and West and I divide my time between the two).

 

One never forgets their first great love. I certainly didn't.
